Do you want a budgie? Introduction

Budgies - are you fond of them?

Budgies are pets and companions that most people love. They’re birds that are capable of changing your life. But before thinking that having a chirping friend that loves you, you have to get prepared to earn its trust and to look after it. And trust me. It’s not as easy as it looks. Before I got Blueberry, I thought it would be easy to look after one too. And to earn its trust. But it was the hardest skill I could ever do. My feathered friend has taught me new things and increased my patience. Budgies can come in many different colours and have different personalities. Some are aggressive, others are social and others are friendly. The best way to tame or to train a budgie is with food. The only thing that can’t be controlled with budgies is that they cannot be toilet trained. Yes, they do it every 10 - 15 minutes. But they can easily be cleaned with tissues. If you want a budgie that can easily become your friend it is best to choose ones younger in age. Boys are playful, social, can learn to speak and love singing and bobbing their heads. However girls are loud, like to chew and can be aggressive especially if they’re laying eggs soon. But every budgie is different. Female budgies can also speak but it is harder to teach them. Males are easier because of the talent they have in the wild. Females are better at whistles; others like my little Berry can mimic kisses and sounds you constantly do to them. The yellow budgie in the top photo is Wally. He lives with Berry even though they are in separate cages. Getting 2 or more budgies is better than one because budgies in the wild like being social. Just make sure that if you want your budgie to bond with you and you have 2 because you think your budgie needs a companion, do not put them together. They will bond with each other. But if you give your budgies treats and you spend time with them, it can be a friend for life.
